Des Moines Tribute -Capital - Friday, July 13, 1928

The World's fastest starter -- such is the title now held by Frank Wykoff,  18 year-old sprint marvel of the Glendale, Cal., High School and a former Des Moines Boy.

It is the right to this this title that may enable young Wykoff to be one of the very few two-time winners at the Olympic games in Amsterdam this summer.

Wykoff's startling fast getaway, which enabled him to defeat Paddock  recently in the Olympic trials on the coast and a classy field in the finals at Cambridge last week, was declared by Paddock to have been speed such as he never had seen before.

The accompanying "movie strip" of three photographs show how the youth gets away.  They also prove that there is no trick, just pure speed  involved.  But you will note that his stride is one to marvel at.

Wykoff is expected to continue his great speed at Amsterdam this summer.  He is expected to get out of his holes with the same unbelievable speed.  And, if he does --Well, the others might just as well hang up their "spikes."
