This is rather too calm and peaceful a scene for the actual start of the "Race of a Century,"  left to right, the participants are:  Hugh Finney, Charley Paddock, Weldon Draper, Frank Lombardi, and Frank Wykoff.  They were off in a practice start but stopped short at that!
