Frank Wykoff, former Des Moines boy and now an athlete at the
University of Southern California, invaded the east last week and
helped his team with the Intercollegiate A. A. A. A. track and field
meet. Wykoff (photo left) is shown here winning the 100-yard
dash by staving off the closing rush of Eddie Tolan, Michigan's star,
who is the recognized holder of the record at the distance.
Hector Dyer of Stanford who finished third, is running at Tolan's
left. Wykoff's time was 9 7-10 seconds.
