"HORSE KICKS WYKOFF;
BREAKS
LEFT ANKLE"

GLENDALE, CAL. (A/P) - Frank Wykoff, whose speed twice carried
him to a new world's record for the 100-yard dash, broke his left
ankle last Sunday, it was disclosed here Saturday.
The break, a double fracture, was caused when a horse kicked him
while on a vacation at the ranch of his aunt, Mrs. Martha Swain, near
Centralia, Washington.
Wykoff is a former Des Moines youth, having been born here and
spending years of the school career here. Shortly after winning
the 100-yard dash in the intercollegiate games at Chicago this summer
he visited here at the home of his uncles A. G. and F. P. Bagg.

Fast Flying Frankie
"Frankie Wykoff, U.S.C. Sprinter, was given quite a scare by Russell
Sweet, Veteran Olympian, in the 75 yard dash featuring the South of Market
Boys' Picnic at Fairfax Park Yesterday. Wykoff is shown as he nosed
out Sweet with a brilliant finish after the latter had led nearly all the
way. Les Hables, Stanford Varsity sprint Star, finished third.
Time was 7 1-5 Seconds."
