Typographical error in the
newspaper -
FINISH TIME was 40 seconds flat.
Frank Wykoff was upset at the
Finish Line over the irresponsible placement of a SHOVEL on the
running field-- and blamed it for a loss of time in finishing
faster -- fearing he would sustain an injury by ramming into it.
Wykoff said there was..."No such thing as 'Stopping on a dime'
when one is racing at a fast pace ... muscles are tense and
tight -- and that he had to veer left to avoid a collision with
the shovel."
