PERFECT FORM

"Both Metcalfe and Wykoff have perfect form. Parsons is still slightly
off balance, perhaps because of the type of start used. His rear foot is still
too high."

"The bound of
Wykoff is now becoming more pronounced. Note the perfect right angle of Wykoff's
right leg and the bound he is getting from his left toe. The arm positions of
all three are very good. Parsons is perhaps a bit tense in the shoulders. Note
the excellent body lean, and the straight line from heel to head of Metcalfe.
A perfect picture."

"Much speed is evident and the
runners seem to be under way. Metcalfe gets less bound than Wykoff, and this is
no doubt due to his 40 pounds extra weight. At this point Wykoff is leading
Metcalfe by 4 inches, while Metcalfe is 6 inches ahead of Parsons."

"Note in the positions of the runners at this point that relaxation is
maintained by keeping the hips loose.
In this picture the left hip is slightly lower than the right. This gives a
rotary action to the hips in running and is a great aid in preventing 'tie-up'."

20 - "WYKOFF'S FORM
IS EXCELLENT!"

"Wykoff's form is excellent.
Metcalfe is not getting enough help from the action of his left arm. It is
evident that Parsons is getting a great deal of arm drive, although it would be
better to have his elbow in closer to the body. Bringing the palm face up in the
forward swing of the arm tends to correct this."
