"Metcalfe and Wykoff are running very beautifully with their arms.
Parsons is depending almost entirely on his legs."

"Note the body angle of Metcalfe, the pull Wykoff is putting in his left
foot and the hip swings of both Parsons and Metcalfe. Parsons is kicking up too
high in the back and apparently toeing-in, a very
bad fault."

ALL THEIR DRIVE

"Now is the time to exert all the drive a
sprinter has. His mind should be focused on the tape. A beautiful
picture of Parsons' facial expression are compared to Metcalfe and Wykoff. This
is due to the fact that Parsons was, this day, running for the first time in
four years and was therefore, not in as good condition as the other two runners.
He is evidently putting all of his energy into his run and is showing remarkably
good form considering the handicaps under which he is running. This shows that
once technique is learned it stays with the runner. In practice the runner
should always attempt to overcome weakness."

"Metcalfe is showing a good 'kick.'
Note how he is pulling back on his left foot. Wykoff has nice knee
action. Parsons has good body form although showing signs of exertion."
