"Paddock to Apply For New Record

 in the 140-Yard Sprint"

March 26, 1928

__________________

HOUSTON, Tex.  March 26 -- A new world's 140-yard record of 13 1/5 seconds will be applied for here by Charley Paddock, following his feat in negotiating the distance in that time Saturday.  It was the second time in successive days that Paddock had cracked his old mark of 14 seconds, running the distance of 12 2/4 seconds on Friday.

Aubrey Brace, the Rice Institute boy, who ran 9.5 seconds in the 100 yard dash with a strong wind behind him in the preliminaries, who won the regular century dash in 9.5 seconds from a field of college sprints.
